CSA congratulates Kallis

Cape Town - Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Tuesday congratulated Jacques Kallis on his 150th Test match appearance on the occasion of the third Test against Sri Lanka at Newlands.

“Jacques’s career statistics speak for themselves,” commented CSA CEO Gerald Majola. “He is unquestionably one of the greatest players ever to play this great game and as an all-rounder his career is almost unique in batting in the top four and being a major strike bowler who has been required to take the new ball at times.

“But what the statistics do not tell us is what a wonderful role model he has been for the game. He represents everything that is good in cricket and has never been involved in any unbecoming controversy at any stage of his career.

“He has also made a huge commitment to helping less privileged youngsters to achieve their cricketing and educational dreams through the Jacques Kallis Trust. Already two beneficiaries of this programme have represented South African Schools and there is the prospect that one day a beneficiary of the Trust will play alongside Jacques in a Test match.

“Jacques still has a great deal to offer the Proteas’ Test squad and we look forward to celebrating the remainder of an outstanding career.”
