The Rapport newspaper reports that CSA CEO Gerald Majola and a delegation of the governing body held a meeting with tournament organisers in Hong Kong last week to discuss a possible extension of the event. The annual Sixes tournament has been staged in Hong Kong since 1992.

The aim is apparently to manage the event in the same manner as the International Rugby Board's highly popular Sevens World Series.

This new extension of the tournament is expected to be staged in Sun City in August next year and will - unlike the event in Hong Kong where lesser known players participate - feature some of the world's top international players.

Countries from the International Cricket Council (ICC) as well as local franchise teams will take part in the week-long tournament.
