SA 'A' squad boosted

Johannesburg -  CSA have added JP Duminy and Wayne Parnell to the South Africa A squad for the two-match unofficial four-day Test series against their India counterparts.

The first match starts at Rustenburg’s Olympia Park on Saturday.

"Wayne was always part of our squad but had to be left out once he was chosen for the Proteas Blue Label squad for the T20 International section of their tour of Sri Lanka," commented South Africa A coach Vinnie Barnes.

"As he has come through that tour without any injury setbacks, he has now been added to the squad.

"He has had a lot of injury problems and needs to play as much four-day cricket as possible.

"JP missed virtually all of last season through injury and national coach Russell Domingo is keen to give him as much four-day cricket as possible, so he has been added to the squad as well."

The India side includes several batsmen who are likely to feature in this summer’s Sunfoil Test Series against the Proteas such as Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara.

Revised South Africa A squad: Justin Ontong (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras, capt), Kyle Abbott (Sunfoil Dolphins), Temba Bavuma (bizhub Highveld Lions), Andrew Birch (Chevrolet Warriors), JP Duminy (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras), Dean Elgar (Chevrolet Knights), Ayabulela Gqamane (Chevrolet Warriors), Simon Harmer (Chevrolet Warriors), Beuran Hendricks (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras), Reeza Hendricks (Chevrolet Knights), Wayne Parnell (Chevrolet Warriors), Rilee Rossouw (Chevrolet Knights), Thami Tsolekile (bizhub Highveld Lions), Vaughn van Jaarsveld (Sunfoil Dolphins), Stiaan van Zyl (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras).

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
