R3.5m IPL base price for Kallis

Cape Town - Jacques Kallis is the only South African cricketer that has attracted the highest base price of R3.5m for next month's IPL auction.

Kallis has previously represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders.

According to the Volksblad website, he is one of 31 players valued at the maximum base price of R3.5m on 233-man international player list announced on Wednesday.

Another list - of non-international players - will be announced shortly.

Proteas ODI wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock's entry-level price is R1.75m, while Faf du Plessis and Morné Morkel's reserve price is more than R2.6m.

Three South Africans - AB de Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore), David Miller (Kings XI Punjab) and Dale Steyn (Sunrisers Hyderabad) - were earlier retained by their franchises.

The IPL auction is scheduled for February 12 and 13 in Bangalore.
