Tahir, Morkel on song for SA

Johannesburg - The South Africans were 31 for one at stumps, after bowling out Kent for 210 on the first day of their three-day warm-up match in Canterbury on Friday.

Scorecard

SuperSport.com reports that Graeme Smith's wicket was the only joy for Kent, as he was caught by Sam Billings off the bowling of Charlie Schreck for 21.

Alviro Petersen opened with Smith and will continue on eight - Hashim Amla had one.

Earlier, Imran Tahir finished with 4-31 cleaning up the hosts' tail and Morné Morkel bagged three scalps, as only Mike Powell (48) offered any resistance to a much better bowling display by the visitors.

Kent were 133 for four at tea, as Morkel took two wickets in the afternoon session and Vernon Philander the fourth, but it was a slow session for the hosts as they only added 42 runs from their unch score of 91-1.

The opening pair of Daniel Ben-Drummond (42) and Sam Northeast (35) added 81 for the first wicket after being asked to bat first, but once both departed it was pretty much downhill as the South Africans established their dominance.

Kallis was particularly stingy, only conceding eight runs in as many overs.

The bowlers had a good workout of nearly 75 overs.

This is South Africa's last match in preparation for the first Test against England that starts on July 19 at The Oval.
