Cape Town - Proteas batsman Jacques Rudolph says they are "100% ready and prepared" to face England in the first Test at The Oval from Thursday.
The Proteas' two warm-up matches against Somerset and Kent ended in draws after both games were affected by bad weather.
But Rudolph, who plays for county side Yorskshire, is familiar with the English conditions and says it will be important for the South Africans to get their strategy spot-on.
"You need a good game plan in terms of the way you construct your innings. You have to be patient and play the ball later," he was quated as saying on Eyewitness News Sport.
He also believes the weather will play a key role in the outcome of the match.
The Proteas slipped to third in the ICC Test rankings over the weekend but a series victory over England will propel them to the No 1 spot.
Should England either draw or win the series, though, they will stay on top - and if they were to whitewash the tourists, South Africa would drop to fourth in the rankings.
