Zondo to captain SA 'A' against Aussies

Cape Town - The national selectors have named the South Africa 'A' squad for a tour match against Australia to be played at Sahara Park Willowmoore from February 22-24.

The Aussies are in the country to play four Test matches against the Proteas, with that series getting underway in Durban on March 1.

Khaya Zondo will captain the squad while the Cape Cobras duo of Pieter Malan and Zubayr Hamza and Hollywoodbets all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy have been chosen at this level for the first time.

"With no franchise cricket scheduled for that weekend it gives another group of fringe players an ideal opportunity to show what they have to offer against top quality opposition," said Convenor of Selectors Zondi.

Zondi also announced the Proteas T20 side for three matches against India later this month.

South Africa 'A' squad:

Khayalihle Zondo (Dolphins, captain), Theunis de Bruyn (Knights), Zubayr Hamza (Cape Cobras), Beuran Hendricks (Highveld Lions), Pieter Malan (Cape Cobras), Wiaan Mulder (Highveld Lions), Senuran Muthusamy (Dolphins), Duanne Olivier (Knights), Rudi Second (Knights), Malusi Siboto (Titans), Shaun von Berg (Titans)

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
