Cape Town - The Proteas have lost three key wickets as they look to save the first Test match against England at Kingsmead.
Both Dean Elgar and Stiaan van Zyl looked confident at the wicket with Van Zyl in particular looking very fluent.
Unfortunately for the Proteas opener, he lost his wicket just before the interval after Ben Stokes managed to get through his defences.
Van Zyl scored 33 in 36 balls with six fours.
Elgar was joined by Proteas captain Hashim Amla who got off the mark with a trademark drive through the covers.
Amla didn't manage to last long after the tea interval however.
He was caught behind by England wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow after flashing at a wide delivery from Steven Finn. He made 12.
Elgar (40) soon followed, caught at second slip by Joe Root, again off Finn.
