Steyn sends strong message with five-for

Cape Town - Dale Steyn looked to be back to his best while on County Championship duty for Hampshire this past weekend.

The 34-year-old, who has competed his comeback from the heel injury he picked up in the first Test against India back in January, picked up figures of 5/66 in Yorkshire's first innings of the match played in Southampton.

Steyn's first wicket was a beautiful delivery that knocked both the off and middle stumps of Cheteshwar Pujara out of the ground.

Steyn was less influential in the second innings where he returned figures of 0/47 in 21 overs, but the fact that he is fit and firing is good news for the Proteas ahead of their two-Test tour of Sri Lanka.

Steyn, currently on 419 Test wickets, needs just two more to tie Shaun Pollock's record of 421 as the country's all-time leading wicket-taker in the format.

The first Test starts on July 12.
