Cape Town - Dale Steyn got through seven overs in England on Tuesday as he made his comeback from a minor groin injury.
Turning out for Hampshire in the County Championship, Steyn finished the day with figures of 1/14 as Worcestershire stuttered along to 68/4 at stumps on day one.
Steyn had opener Tom Fell caught behind for 4.
The 35-year-old had also played his part with the bat earlier in the day.
Coming in at No 10, Steyn struck 5 boundaries on his way to a valuable knock of 25 as Hampshire were bowled out for 191.
Steyn's Hampshire team-mate and former Proteas seamer Kyle Abbott, meanwhile, finished the day with figures of 1/15 while Wayne Parnell was impressive with his 2/31 for Worcestershire.
Steyn is currently tied with Shaun Pollock as South Africa's all-time leading wicket-taker in Test cricket with 421 scalps.
