Proteas opener smashes side to title with record ton

Cape Town - A record-breaking century by Proteas opener Lizelle Lee saw the Surrey Stars win the Women's Cricket Super League title for the first time on Monday.

SCORECARD: Surrey Stars v Loughborough Lightning final

Lee smashed the fastest hundred in the history of the Super League by making 104 off just 55 balls - including 6 sixes and 13 fours.

"That is probably my best innings in this format," Lee told the Belfast Telegraph.

"I'm just so pleased for the rest of the team. We've had some ups and downs in the tournament but we've produced our best performance when it mattered most in the final."

Surrey piled on the runs to finish on 183 for 6 in their allocated 20 overs, which became the club's second highest total in this season's competition.

Proteas bowling duo of skipper Dane van Niekerk and fast bowler Marizanne Kapp saw Surrey to a comfortable 66-run victory by bowling out Loughborough for 117 in 18.3 overs at Hove.

Van Niekerk, who also contributed an unbeaten 15 with the bat, took 3 for 37 in her four over while the former No 1 ODI bowler Kapp delivered figures of 2 for 14 in her three overs.
