Cape Town - Former Proteas all-rounder Albie Morkel believes that young gun Aiden Markram will become the Proteas' Test skipper.
Markram, 22, was included in the Proteas' 16-man squad for the four-Test series against England starting July 6 at Lord's.
Markram was selected in order to provide batting cover for skipper Faf du Plessis, who will be flying from South Africa after the birth of his first child.
He captained the SA Under-19 side at the 2014 ICC Junior World Cup final when they defeated Pakistan by six wickets to clinch their maiden trophy.
The Titans opener scored 565 runs at an average of 51.36 - including two hundreds - in the 2016/17 Sunfoil Series.
He unsuccessfully led South Africa 'A' four-day squad on their tour to England this month, which saw the side thrashed by 257 runs against the England Lions.
Markram performed well on his debut SA 'A' tour scoring an unbeaten 102 against Hampshire and 71 against the England Lions.
Morkel, who captains the Titans' one-day side, says Markram is a star and hopes that Dean Elgar and the senior South African players will take the him under their wings and mentor him.
"He has the ability to become a future South African Test captain," Morkel was quoted as saying on the Titans' official website.
