Morkel, Amla move up in ICC rankings

Cape Town - Proteas bowler Morne Morkel is back in the top 10 of the latest ICC Test bowler rankings after his performance in the third Test against India.

Morkel moved up two places to ninth following his 2/47 and 3/61 at the Wanderers, which saw India triumph by 63 runs.

In the batsman rankings, Proteas batsman Hashim Amla climbed one spot to sit seventh after smashing 61 and 52 on the controversial and difficult Wanderers pitch.

Meanwhile, India skipper Virat Kohli moved ahead of ICC Cricket Hall of Famer Brian Lara in the all-time list of batsmen with highest-ever ranking points in the ICC Player Rankings.

Kohli is now on 912 points and in 26th position on the list which is headed by Don Bradman (961 points).

The Indian skipper moved from 31st to 26th position and leapfrogged Lara (911), Kevin Pietersen (909), Hashim Amla (907), Shivnarine Chanderpaul (901) and Michael Clarke (900).
