Harris fumes at Proteas for Kuhn snub

Cape Town - Former South African spinner Paul Harris has slammed the Proteas for not selecting Titans batsman Heino Kuhn for the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

Harris took to Twitter to express his disappointment at Kuhn's omission from the Test squad despite being a consistent performer in the Sunfoil Series.

Harris responded to ESPNCricinfo's Firdose Moonda on the social media platform with a series of tweets questioning and responding to why Kuhn deserved his national call-up.

"He broke a run scoring record last year. Can't understand why he keeps getting over looked," said Harris on Twitter.

Former Proteas batsman and Titans team-mate Henry Davids concurred with Harris' statement, saying that he couldn't believe that this was happening to Kuhn again.

In the 2015/16 season, Kuhn took the Titans to the Sunfoil Series title by being the leading run scorer in the tournament.

Kuhn become the first South African franchise-batsman since 2009/10 to reach 1 000 runs in a domestic season after ending off with 1 126 runs at an average of 62.55.

This 2016/17 season has already seen him making 249 runs in five Sunfoil Series games at an average of 35.57.

At this year's Cricket South Africa awards, Kuhn was named Sunfoil Series Cricketer of the Year as well as the Domestic Players’ Player of the Year - a feat that Harris also stated to Cricket South Africa's official Twitter account.

Kuhn has only played three T20s for the Proteas between 2009-2011.

Since then the 32-year-old has played for South Africa 'A' and has stood in as interim skipper for Proteas opening batsman Stephen Cook.
