Former Proteas all-rounder takes job with Maties

Former Proteas all-rounder Rory Kleinveldt has taken a job with university side Maties as their bowling consultant.

The 37-year-old, who played four Tests, 10 ODIs and six T20s for South Africa between 2008 and 2013, retired from first-class cricket this year having spent his entire professional career playing out of Western Province.

In an interview with Netwerk24, Kleinveldt confirmed his appointment at Stellenbosch University, saying he had been approached by current head coach Ryan Bailey.

"Maties has a rich cricketing history," Kleinveldt said.

"I did some work with the bowlers last season and I am really excited about the talent.

"I was fortunate enough to be a professional player for 18 years and I gained a lot if experience at the highest level against some of the best players in the world.

"I believe I can share this knowledge with the youngsters and hopefully they can benefit from it."
