Cape Town - Heading into the second Test against Bangladesh starting in Bloemfontein on Friday, Proteas captain Faf du Plessis has stressed the importance of consistency.
Du Plessis was pleased with his side’s effort throughout during their 333-run victory in Potchefstroom last week and has called for more of the same this weekend.
The pitch at the Manguang Oval is expected to favour the fast bowlers and Du Plessis wants his team to take advantage.
Speaking at a press conference in Bloemfontein on Thursday, Du Plessis called for “just another dominating performance”.
“I think if we’re really honest with ourselves... in conditions like this it’s really important that we do that against Bangladesh. Yes, on their day they can be very dangerous, but it’s (important) we keep pressure on them and not give them opportunities in the game where they can get on top of us," he said.
Du Plessis continued: “This game is really important for me, that we show that consistency. For five days in Potch we were brilliant. We didn’t have half a session that belonged to Bangladesh. So it was pretty much the perfect game that we played, but it’s really important that we back it up. That consistency is for me the excellence that we’re striving for in this team.”
Following the two-game Test series, the Proteas will also play three ODIs and two T20Is against Bangladesh.
