Cape Town - England have named their starting XI for the first Test against the Proteas starting at Lord's on Thursday.

It will be Joe Root's first match as captain and he confirmed at a press briefing on Thursday that Hampshire spinner Liam Dawson had been given the nod, meaning that Toby Roland-Jones was the unlucky player in the original squad of 12 to miss out.

Play on Thursday will start at 12:00 (SA time).
