England fight on as Rabada snags another

Cape Town – Kagiso Rabada recorded his best figures in Test cricket during the second session on day three of the fourth Test match against England at SuperSport Park in Pretoria.

LIVE SCORING: South Africa v England

After ripping the heart of English batting lineup with three wickets before lunch, Rabada added the wicket of Ben Stokes to finish the session with 6 for 101 from his 26 overs.

Stokes played a typically flowing knock, quickly racing to 33 off just 29 balls (5 boundaries and a six) before Rabada produced a tremendous delivery that caught the outside edge of the all-rounders bat with Hashim Amla taking the catch at first slip.

Other than Rabada, the Proteas attack lacked penetration and Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes put on a 43 partnership before JP Duminy struck rather fortuitously in his first over to remove Woakes. He was caught at slip by Dean Elgar after an edge had deflected skywards off the thigh of Proteas wicket-keeper, Quinton de Kock.

Ali (45*) and Stuart Broad (4*) looked relatively untroubled and took England into tea on 318 for 8, a deficit of 157 on the Proteas first innings.

A major concern for the Proteas management will be Kyle Abbott who seems to have picked up a hamstring injury and only bowled three overs in the session.
