Cape Town - 20-year-old South African fast bowling star Kagiso Rabada still has to check that his rapid ascent into the South African team is real, so quickly has he gone from schoolboy to international star.
“It’s been a dream come true,” the soft-spoken Rabada says on tonight’s episode of The Dan Nicholl Show, showing on SuperSport 1 at 19:00.
“For me the timing couldn’t have been any better. You play against guys you used to watch growing up, so it’s been surreal.
“You get to know them, you see them every day, but every now and then, you have to pinch yourself to see if you’re not dreaming, and then you don’t wake up,” Rabada explains.
“It’s very enjoyable!”
Rabada also talks about the challenges of the recent ICC World Twenty20, his upcoming travels to Kent and India, and his love of music, with a very special musical performance on Wednesday’s show.
Rabada is joined by former swimming star Natalie du Toit, who looks back at this week’s Laureus World Sport Awards in her capacity as a former winner; and actor and comedian Siv Ngesi, most recently seen in hit television show ‘Black Sails’.
The show also includes highlights of Monday night’s Laureus Awards, held in Berlin, which host Dan Nicholl attended.
