AB in high spirits ahead of Wanderers Test

Cape Town - New South African Test captain AB de Villiers is in high spirits ahead of Thursday’s third Test against England at the Wanderers, despite his team being 1-0 down in the four-match series.

De Villiers is a guest on this week’s episode of The Dan Nicholl Show, airing tonight on SuperSport 1 at 19:00, where he talks about the “great honour” of the captaincy, and how the team is in a good space.

“We’re very positive still,” De Villiers says.

“Obviously we started off slowly in the England series, but there are still two Test matches left, and hopefully the guys will turn it around. We’re still very positive.”

De Villiers himself is particularly confident about the Test side, saying that: “I’m still feeling great about South African cricket, and us moving forward as a unit.”

The new captain also pays tribute to his predecessor, Hashim Amla, and gives some insight into his music career, his rugby credentials, and one particular area he wasn’t much good at.

De Villiers is joined by comedian and actor Joey Rasdien, himself a huge cricket fan, and downhill rider Greg Minnaar, who with 18 World Cup victories is the most successful athlete in the history of his sport.
