AB de Villiers welcomes birth of second child

Cape Town - Proteas star AB de Villiers and his wife, Danielle, have welcomed the birth of their second child ... John Richard de Villiers.

De Villiers, captain of South Africa's ODI team, confirmed the news on social media on Thursday.

"Now we are 4!" De Villiers posted, with John Richard following the birth of the now-two-year-old Abraham de Villiers

"John Richard de Villiers was born at 11am on Monday the 17th and both Danielle and John are safe at home.

"My wife is the most amazing woman and once again showed incredible courage and strength through all of this."

Earlier this month, Proteas Test captain Faf du Plessis - one of De Villiers' best friends - missed the first Test against England at Lord's to be with his wife, Imari, as she gave birth to their first child.

De Villiers, meanwhile, has put a hold on his Test career as he looks to ensure that he makes the 2019 World Cup in England.
