Cape Town - Off-spinner Dane Piedt has credited his team-mates for helping him stay calm in his Test debut against Zimbabwe in Harare.
The 24-year-old was named Man-of-the-Match after claiming match figures of 8/152, helping South Africa win the one-off Test by 9 wickets.
Piedt, in an interview with Die Burger, said the continued support from his team-mates on and off the field helped him in his quest.
"I got a lot of advice, not only from Hashim (Amla, captain), but also from AB (de Villiers) in the slips and Quinton de Kock behind the stumps. They reminded me not to be over-eager. There was a period in the Test when I wanted to take a wicket with every ball. They reminded me to follow the processes."
Piedt is not part of the Proteas one-day squad and returned to South Africa on Wednesday. He says he hopes to also force his way into the ODI squad and dreams of playing in a World Cup.
But for now his focus is at the Cape Cobras, who are preparing for the Champions League T20 to be held in India next month.
