MAN OF THE MATCH

Vernon Philander is the man of the match.

21 Jan 2015

De Villiers happy to win three in a row, he mentions that it simulates the knock-out stages of a World Cup.

21 Jan 2015

Holder mentioning senior players that have not stepped up in this series.  He really looks shell-shocked, much like Sunday.  Is it fair to make a youngster just making his way in international cricket the captain of an ODI team?  I don't think so.

SOUTH AFRICA TAKE AN UNASSAILABLE 3-0 LEAD IN THIS FIVE MATCH SERIES

South Africa score a crushing 9 wicket win over the West Indies who were pitiful with the bat and not much better in the field.

Tahir, Philander and Steyn stood out with the ball for South Africa while Amla and Du Plessis both scored half centuries.

21 Jan 2015

FOUR!  Short and wide down the leg-side by Gayle and Amla whips him to the fine leg boundary for four.

21 Jan 2015

Chris Gayle into the attack now for the West Indies.

21 Jan 2015

HALF CENTURY TO DU PLESSIS

Not a chance less innings, but well played to Du Plessis.

He faced 69 balls and hit 5 boundaries.

21 Jan 2015

5 runs to win now, can Du Plessis get his half century?  He needs one more run, it should be a doddle.

21 Jan 2015

FOUR! Brathwaite bowling too short here, he is punished again by Du Plessis who pulls him through mid-wicket.

21 Jan 2015

South Africa 108/1 after 22 overs.

Only 15 runs required now

21 Jan 2015

FOUR!  Du Plessis hooks but skies it into the deep at square leg. Taylor runs around to take the catch but doesn't get anywhere near it and it trickles over the boundary.

21 Jan 2015

Amla has scored 2 half centuries and a century in this series.

21 Jan 2015

FOUR!  A half-century to Amla as he plays a similar shot.   Great innings from the South African opener.

It came off 55 balls and included 8 boundaries.

21 Jan 2015

FOUR!  Amla goes the aerial route over extra-cover, with a great inside out shot off Benn.

21 Jan 2015

Only 29 more runs required for South Africa.

21 Jan 2015

Benn returns to the attack.

21 Jan 2015

DROPPED! Du Plessis mistimes an off-drive off Brathwaite, but Benn makes a complete hash of the catch.  He tried to catch it with one hand.  He complains afterwards that he could not pick the ball up.  The batsmen run three runs.

21 Jan 2015

South Africa 84/1 after 19 overs

39 runs required to win the series

Amla 43* (51 balls, 6x4)

Du Plessis 29 (49 balls, 3x4)

21 Jan 2015

FOUR!  Du Plessis pounces on a short ball from Taylor and helps it down to an unguarded fine leg area for a boundary.   Nothing more than a short arm jab!

21 Jan 2015

Amla is averaging 262 for this series currently.  The Might # indeed!

21 Jan 2015

FOUR!  A slower ball from Taylor and Du Plessis has hit that through the covers, with one hand coming off the bat.  Not a pretty shot, but effective!

21 Jan 2015

FOUR!  Du Plessis advances and lofts Taylor straight back over his head for a boundary.

21 Jan 2015

South Africa 60/1 after after 16 overs.

They require another 63 runs to win.

21 Jan 2015

FOUR!  The wrong line from the youngster as he bowls on Amla's legs and is flicked away through square left for a boundary.

21 Jan 2015

Carlos Brathwaite into the the attack for the West Indies.

21 Jan 2015

Another tight over from Russell with only a single coming off it.

21 Jan 2015

South Africa 53/1 after 14 overs

South Africa just approaching this target normally, prepared to bide their time and wait for bad balls.

21 Jan 2015

BEATEN!  Holder goes past the end of Amla's bat.  No mean feat that!

21 Jan 2015

Almost a wicket as Du Plessis pulls Holder to deep square leg and the ball drops just short of a diving Carter. Great effort by the youngster.

21 Jan 2015

50 UP

The first fifty has come up in 74 balls.

21 Jan 2015

Still very overcast at Buffalo Park, but the rain is staying away at this stage.

21 Jan 2015

South Africa 46/1 after 11 overs

Amla 32* (33)

Du Plessis 6* (19)

Required run-rate: 1.97

21 Jan 2015

A stifled appeal by Russell but it was going down leg.  The rain seems to have gone away.

21 Jan 2015

FOUR!  Amla begins after the break where he left off.  Russell is too short and Amla stands tall as he drives square off the back foot. Glorious!

21 Jan 2015

A maiden over to start from Holder.

21 Jan 2015

Du Plessis very watchful at the moment.

21 Jan 2015

Jason Holder runs into Faf du Plessis...

21 Jan 2015

Play will continue while a slight drizzle comes down.

21 Jan 2015

WE ARE BACK UNDERWAY

There is some concern however, as rain is coming down around the ground.

21 Jan 2015

DINNER BREAK

That will be the dinner break at Buffalo Park. South Africa require another 85 runs to win and are currently 38/1 after 9 overs.

21 Jan 2015

South Africa 37/1 after 8 overs

They require 86 to win.

21 Jan 2015

Deonarine into the attack to bowl some off-spin for the West Indies.

21 Jan 2015

FOUR! Alma flicks through midwicket off his legs of Russel who has entered the attack.  Great shot!  Amla has adapted to the slower pitch extremely quickly.

21 Jan 2015

South Africa 28/1 after 6 overs

Run-rate: 5.20

Run-rate required: 2.15

21 Jan 2015

WICKET!  Rossouw is out and he will be very unhappy with himself.  Holder drops one in short, moving across Rossouw who tries to pull it over midwicket but only succeeds in hitting it straight in the air, to be caught by mid-off.

RR Rossouw c Deonarine b Holder 7 (14b 1x4 0x6) SR: 50.00
