SOUTH AFRICA WIN BY 61 RUNS (D/L METHOD)

A comprehensive victory for South Africa.  They will want to improve their batting after struggling in the final overs of their innings.  Gayle also put them under some pressure but once Steyn removed him, they took wickets regularly to keep control of the game.

16 Jan 2015

WICKET!  Steyn started it when he removed Gayle and now he has ended it by getting Taylor caught behind by De Villiers.

JE Taylor c †de Villiers b Steyn 2 (6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

16 Jan 2015

WICKET!  Holder tries to go after Steyn, but only manages to sky one.  Miller does really well to get under that, it could not have been easy with wind.

JO Holder c Miller b Steyn 2 (6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

16 Jan 2015

West Indies 164/8 after 28 overs.

They require 62 off 24 balls.

16 Jan 2015

Lots of short stuff from Morkel here!

16 Jan 2015

NOT OUT!  Review wasted!  South Africa are fairly good at that.

16 Jan 2015

REVIEW!  South Africa think they have Taylor caught behind as he tried to hook Morkel.  He doesn't seem to have touched it.

16 Jan 2015

Morkel returns, he hasn't bowled well today.

16 Jan 2015

WICKET!  Great bowling by Tahir.  He tosses it up again, Ramdin tries the same shot, but wants to hit it squarer, misses... TIMBER!

D Ramdin b Tahir 32 (31 ball, 2x4)

16 Jan 2015

FOUR!  Ramdin launches Tahir to cow corner for a much needed boundary.

16 Jan 2015

TARGET ADJUSTMENT

On over has been lost.  Revised target - West Indies need 72 off 36 balls.

16 Jan 2015

AND.... WE ARE BACK!

Well that didn't last long.  As the groundstaff were securing the covers, the rain suddenly stopped.

The players are back out on the field.

16 Jan 2015

RAIN DELAY

The umpires take the players off the field for the second rain delay of the evening.

16 Jan 2015

Rain starting again in Durban.  The West Indies are well behind the required Duckworth/Lewis target.

16 Jan 2015

West Indies 148/7 after 25 overs

They require 81 off 48 balls.

16 Jan 2015

The West Indies captain, Jason Holder strides to the middle.

16 Jan 2015

WICKET!  Philander has his man. Russell after playing two beautiful shots now just swings widely, only to edge behind to De Villiers.

AD Russell c †de Villiers b Philander 19 (8b 1x4 2x6) SR: 237.50

16 Jan 2015

SIX!  Another one, same area, this ball was a full toss from Philander.

16 Jan 2015

SIX! That is massive from Russell.  He has hit Philander over long-off a maximum!

16 Jan 2015

FOUR!  Good shot, Russell backs away slightly and cuts Steyn through the covers.  He picked the slower ball there.

16 Jan 2015

Dale Steyn returns.  Expect a few bouncers for Russell. #payback

16 Jan 2015

Andre Russell is the new man in.

Batting Powerplay taken by the West Indies, it will be  3 overs.

16 Jan 2015

Absolutely no urgency here from the West Indies, very strange to watch.   Almost like a game of cricket down at the park on a Sunday.

16 Jan 2015

WICKET!  Philander strikes in his first over back. Sammy tries to cut, but only succeeds in getting a top edge through to De Villiers.

DJG Sammy c †de Villiers b Philander 4 (8b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

16 Jan 2015

Philander returns ending the run of the spin twins!

16 Jan 2015

West Indies 122/5 after 22 overs

They require 107 off 66 balls.

16 Jan 2015

BOWLING FIGURES

Philander 1/26 in 4 overs

Morkel 0/34 in 4 overs

Steyn 1/14 in 3 overs

Duminy 0/24 in 6 overs

Tahir 2/22 in 5 overs

16 Jan 2015

Still spin from both ends from South Africa.  It is working as the run-rate climbs.

16 Jan 2015

West Indies 111/5 after 21 overs

Run-rate: 5.61

Run-rate required: 9.25

16 Jan 2015

Darren Sammy strides to the wicket.

16 Jan 2015

WICKET!  Yes, the third umpire has given him out stumped. Carter is out!  Great bowling by Tahir!

JL Carter st †de Villiers b Imran Tahir 17 (26b 3x4 0x6) SR: 65.38

16 Jan 2015

Carter's foot appears to be on the line, that would be out then, as the line belongs to the wicket-keeper.

16 Jan 2015

REVIEW!  We are going upstairs.  We might have a stumping here, the umpire wants to have a look upstairs. Tahir spun a google across him, and De Villiers had the bails off in a flash.

16 Jan 2015

FOUR!  Tahir is too wide on this occasion and Carter cuts him away down to third man.

16 Jan 2015

West Indies innings in a strange limbo at the moment, they need to start forcing the pace but happy to take singles and put away the occasional bad ball while the run rate climbs and climbs.

16 Jan 2015

FOUR!  Carter sweeps Tahir, Philander should field, but he dives over the ball. Poor fielding.

16 Jan 2015

West Indies 105/4 after 18 overs.

Run-rate: 5.83

Run Rate-required: 8.26

The run-rate is climbing rapidly now.

16 Jan 2015

FOUR!  A leg stump full toss from Tahir is swept to fine leg for a boundary by Carter.

16 Jan 2015

South Africa getting through there overs very quickly now.  Once 20 overs have passed in the West Indies innings, we have a game if the rain returns.

16 Jan 2015

West Indies 94/4 after 16 overs

Run-rate:5.87

Required Run-rate: 7.94

16 Jan 2015

Twin spin now as Duminy returns.

16 Jan 2015

Jonathan Carter is the new man in on debut for the West Indies. He averages 32 in List A limited overs domestic cricket.

16 Jan 2015

WICKET!  Tahir has struck... he traps Smith LBW with a slider.  Great bowling.  He is ecstatic!

DR Smith lbw b Imran Tahir 29 (73m 38b 3x4 0x6) SR: 76.31

16 Jan 2015

Tahir continues.  It cannot be easy bowling spin in this wind.
