Well done to Steve Smith, who will surely be named man-of-the-match for the second game in a row.

As mentioned earlier, South Africa were about 15-20 runs short of where they needed to be. They needed skipper De Villiers or Miller to bat through to the end.

Also, their bowlers didn't put enough pressure on during the middle parts of the innings. Ryan McLaren, in particular was too wayward.

Kyle Abbott (1/43) can feel proud of his performance though.

  • 32

50 for Steve Smith! He gets there by dabbing Abbott's short delivery to third man. It has come off 63 balls with 2 boundaries. The last ball is played very strangley by Smith...kind of a smash in tennis and clears mid-off and runs to the boundry. Didn't look good but effective. There were also 4 singles in that over. A good one for Australia.

  • Summary - Well, that was quite a match. Think South Africa gifted Australia a few runs by some casual bowling but take nothing away from Steve Smith who scored his second century and beat his previous best of 101. He was ably supported by Mathew Wade who scored 52 and a cameo at the end by Faulkner with 34 coming off just 19 balls. South Africa's bowlers were not at their best with Steyn and Parnell picking up 2 wickets each and Abbott bowling econmoically and picking up a wicket. They really missed JP Duminy in this series and Australia have now won the series 3 -1 with one more to play. Thanks for joining us and have a good one. Cheers!

  • 49

They did run a single and Australia win by 3 wickets with an over to spare.

McLaren runs in from the long-leg boundary and takes the catch. Wade made 52 off 59 with 4 fours and a six. He put on 121 with Smith. Next ball is a front foot no ball and the free hit is the result. Parnell is back. His over costs just 4 singles. Good over by Parnell.

  • 33

  • 32

50 for Steve Smith! He gets there by dabbing Abbott's short delivery to third man. It has come off 63 balls with 2 boundaries. • - We are back. Finch and Warner walk out and Steyn to open the bowling. Australia have never beaten SA at the MCG and South Africa would like to keep it that way.

  • 24

McLaren comes back into the attack and they get 2 singles off the first 2 balls followed by a dot ball. Maxwell gets a leg-bye off the next ball. This is followed by a boundary from Smith. The ball was too full and Smith glances that very fine. They end the over with 2 off the last ball.

  • Innings Break - Really a roller-coaster of an innings from South Africa. They lost their first 3 wickets for 77 but a good partnership between AB and Miller put them on track for a really good score. It was the powerplay once again that undid them. A 122 run partnership was undone in the second over of the powerplay by Faulkner. Australia did really well to pull it back from there, conceding just 82 runs in the last 15 overs. Australia will be really happy, especially if you consider they lost a front-line bowler in Nathan Coulter Nile after bowling just 3 overs. South Africa are by no means out of this yet. They have the bowling power to defend this with Steyn leading the pack. Join us in 30 min for what should be an exciting chase.

50 comes up off the first ball of Maxwell's over. 2 more singles and a 2 comes off the over.

  • 11

Watson now into the attack. He still looks disappointed with himself for dropping that catch. He concedes 7 runs in his opening over.

  • 10

Maxwell continues and just concedes 2 singles. Its been a good spell thus from Maxwell, who could've had a wicket already.

  • 9

Cummins continues and concedes 2 boundaries. The first was one was a ball that was short enough for Faf to rock back and pull from outside off to the midwicket boundary. Next one was full and wide and Faf plays through the line and beats cover.

  • 8

Maxwell now into the attack. Concedes just 2 singles off the first 2 deliveries. Last ball, de Kock top edges a cut and flies too quickly to Watson at slip who gets his hands to it but couldn't hold on.

  • 7

Cummins into the attck. This is his first ODI in Australia. Starts with a wide. That's all the runs from that over. There was a mistimed pull that could've went to point and a play and miss. Nervous times for the batsmen.

WICKET! Coulter-Nile gets the big fish! Its another short ball and Amla is too early and gets a bottom of the bat and the ball flies to Cummins at short midwicket. He made 18 off 20 deliveries with 3 boundaries. Faf walks in. Just 2 singles and a wicket in that over.

  • 5

Starc starts with a single and 2 wides. This is followed by a delivery which is back of a length on offstump and Amla punches the ball through short cover and mid-off. Great timing on that.

  • 4

Coulter-Nile starts with 2 dot balls. Next ball is a bouncer that's just too high and is called a wide. The fourth ball is on off stump and Amla edges that onto his pad and he gets 2 runs. The bowler goes up for half an appeal. Next ball is short and Amla uses his wrists and sends that through backward point. Great shot!

  • 3

Starc continues and is getting some good bounce and pace. He just concedes 2 runs in the over.

  • 2

Coulter-Nile partners Starc with the new ball. They get a single off the first ball followed by a leg-bye. The fourth ball is on Amla's pads and he scoops the ball over midwicket to pick up the first boundary. This is followed by 2 off the last ball.

  • 1

South africa get off the mark with a wide followed by 2 singles. Good over by Starc.

  • - Starc to start us off with de Kock to take strike. Partnering him is the magnificent Hash.

  • Changes - As you can see, Morne Morkel, Vernon Philander and Tahir left out for South Africa with Kyle Abbott, Wayne Parnell and Robin Peterson coming in. For Australia Maxwell, Cummins , Coulter-Nile and Faulkner coming in. Quite a pace attack.

  • Australia - DA Warner, AJ Finch, SR Watson, SPD Smith, GJ Bailey*, GJ Maxwell, MS Wade(wk), JP Faulkner, PJ Cummins, NM Coulter-Nile, MA Starc

  • South Africa - Q de Kock(wk), HM Amla, F du Plessis, AB de Villiers*, DA Miller, F Behardien, R McLaren, RJ Peterson, WD Parnell, KJ Abbott, DW Steyn

  • Toss - South Africa have won the toss and will be batting first.

  • Greetings! - Hello and welcome to the fourth one-dayer, with the Proteas needing to win to level the series and make the final game the decider. They were below par in Canberra, and will hope the MCG's big boundaries will be kinder to them if Finch gets going!
