Cape Town - For so extraordinary a cricketer, retired Test kingpin Jacques Kallis kept a notably low profile, says former Proteas team-mate Jonty Rhodes.

Asked in an interview what his fondest personal memory of the all-rounder was, Rhodes said: “A lot about Jacques is how he’s so under the radar, which is hard to believe for someone who is such an amazingly high performer, whether it be with bat or ball or in the field.
“He is that kind of player ... he’s not the kind who is always out late doing this and that, doing crazy stuff that sticks in memories.
“It’s just the way he has performed so consistently; I have no outrageous stories about him to divulge.
"He’s a really quiet, behind-the-scenes kind of bloke. When he steps over that rope, he just delivers 100 percent every single day ... to replace him is impossible.”
