Cape Town - Proteas team manager Mohammed Moosajee believes it's a good thing that the national team now has three captains in the three different codes.
Hashim Amla was recently named as Graeme Smith's successor as Test captain, beating AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis to the post.
De Villiers is the one-day international captain, while Du Plessis is the T20 captain.
"I could see in the last while how drained Graeme Smith had become when he was still captain of the Test and one-day side," Moosajee told the Beeld website.
"I am convinced the three captains will complement each other very well and will work close together with other senior members in the squad.
"As captain Graeme had a presence that commanded respect, AB leads by his example and has flair, while Faf is very pragmatic and methodical.
"I believe Hashim will be very inspiring as Test captain."
Moosajee said the perception that Amla is very quiet and reserved should not be seen as a weakness. He said Amla has played a leadership role in the change-room for many years and added good advice to Smith when he was the captain.
The Proteas completed a fitness camp in Pretoria this week as they prepare to tour Sri Lanka in July for two Tests and three ODIs.
