During Day 3 of the third Test at Newlands, Australia's now disgraced-skipper Steve Smith and opening batsman Cameron Bancroft admitted to ball-tampering.

Smith confessed that Bancroft's actions in scuffing up the ball were done with the full knowledge of the team's "leadership group", which, apparently, excluded coach Darren Lehmann.

Smith, who stepped down as skipper for the remainder of the Newlands Test, was then banned for one match (the fourth and final Test at the Wanderers starting next Friday) and fined 100 percent of his match fee.

For his part in the scandal, Bancroft received a 75 percent match fee fine, but was cleared to play in Johannesburg, pending a Cricket Australia inquiry.

Despite the shocking revelations, the internet always sees the funny side of things and was quick to poke fun at Smith and his team-mates in a number of memes and jokes.
