Proteas: Abbott in for Morkel

Cape Town - Kyle Abbott will make his one-day international debut for South Africa in the first match of the series against Pakistan at Chevrolet Park in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

Abbott completes a clean sweep of caps for South Africa, after making his Test and T20 debuts in the last three weeks. His cap number is 109.

Abbott replaces Morné Morkel, who is unavailable for selection and is still recovering from a left hamstring strain.

“Morné’s recovery has progressed according to schedule but we have taken the precautionary decision of making him unavailable for selection because of the sensitive nature of the injury. We don’t want to risk aggravating the injury and would rather have him back in the team at full fitness," team manager Mohammed Moosajee said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first in Bloemfontein on Sunday.
