All-rounder Morris jolts Knights

Willowmoore - Chris Morris starred with bat and ball as the Titans eased to a comfortable 55-run win over the Knights in their Momentum One Day Cup clash at Willowmoore on Friday.

Half-centuries by Faf du Plessis and Henry Davids were also central for the hosts, before some late order bludgeoning by Morris and Albie Morkel lifted their side to 301/7, the highest ever total in Benoni.

Proteas batsman Du Plessis made some welcome runs as he top-scored for the home team with 72 off 84 balls, while opener Davids returned from an eye injury with 65 off 89.

It was then the turn of Morkel and Morris with the former smashing 40 in 28 balls, including two sixes and three fours.

The latter was even more emphatic as his 16-ball stay brought with it five sixes and two fours for an unbeaten 45.

Morris then grabbed 3-30 to send the Knights to 246 all out in 46.3 overs.

Morkel (2-36) and Tabraiz Shamsi (2-52) chipped in with four wickets between them, while Rilee Rossouw top-scored for the Knights with 62 off 52 balls.

Defeat left the Knights bottom of the table, while the Titans edged a place higher above the Dolphins into fourth place.
