Rain spoils Warriors, Lions’ party

East London - The Warriors and the Highveld Lions were forced to share the points in their One-Day Cup fixture at Buffalo Park as rain forced its abandonment on Friday night.

The Warriors had made a promising start after winning the toss and electing to bat, with Colin Ingram’s unbeaten 55 taking them to 139 for three in 28.3 overs when the game was called off.

There had been two previous rain delays, with the second of them chopping the game down to 33 overs per side, before the third interruption proved conclusive.

The outcome suited the Warriors more than the Lions, given that they now have 10 points from four games while the Lions have just six.

The Warriors will now travel to Cape Town to face the Cape Cobras on Sunday, while the Lions will host the Knights in a televised clash at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.
