Cape Town - Proteas star JP Duminy has been praised for his work in the commentary box during the ongoing Mzansi Super League (MSL).

The 34-year-old is missing the tournament with a shoulder injury and was drafted in to be part of the SABC commentary team.

The response has been largely positive, with Duminy offering modern insights into the world of T20I cricket.

There has been a lot of focus on the SABC production after Cricket South Africa (CSA) gave the broadcast rights for the tournament to the cash-strapped organisation.

For the most part, the production has been good enough, and Duminy's knowledge has been a part of that success.

National skipper Faf du Plessis praised Duminy for the work he was doing on Tuesday night, saying that he would "slide nicely" into commentary after cricket.

Duminy is expected to be fit for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan in January and he will form part of the Proteas' World Cup squad next year.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
