Johannesburg - The Jozi Stars secured a home playoff berth in the Mzansi Super League with a massive 101-run win over the Tshwane Spartans at the Wanderers on Tuesday.

The hosts posted a competition-best 239 for three off their allotted 20 overs, with Rassie van der Dussen and Dan Christian sharing an unbeaten 118-run stand.

Van der Dussen was 96 not out off 44 balls, while the Australian Christian was unbeaten on 52 off 19 balls.

Jozi Stars seamer Nono Pongolo then stole the show with the ball, claiming six for 20 as the Spartans were bundled out for 138 in 17.2 overs.

Opener Gihahn Cloete was the Spartans’ best batsman, scoring 50 off 40 balls.

According to ESPNcricinfo, all is not lost for the Spartans.

The Tshwane side must now focus on their final game against the Durban Heat at Centurion on Wednesday - a bonus point win could still take them to third, provided the Paarl Rocks get the better of the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants.

If the Spartans, Rocks and Giants all finish on 21 points, then the men from Tshwane will qualify as they had won both their matches against Rocks and both these sides would have more wins than Giants.
