Cape Town - Skipper Faf du Plessis and batsman Grant Thomson have taken the Paarl Rocks to a much-needed victory against the Jozi Stars at the Wanderers on Sunday.
Thomson scored an unbeaten 71 off 55 deliveries to see the Rocks to a six wicket win with three balls remaining.
Du Plessis continued his fine form and led from the front as he smashed 61 off 31 balls - 7 fours and 2 sixes - before being trapped on the legs by Dan Christian.
Duanne Oliver was the pick of the bowlers for the Stars as he ended on figures of three for 30 in his four overs.
Earlier on in the day, Du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first.
Kerwin Mungroo dismantled the deadly opening pair of Reeza Hendricks (5) and Chris Gayle (9).
Rassie van der Dussen stood tall as he took the Stars what looked like a competitive total at Wanderers. Van der Dussen smashed an unbeaten 83 off 55 balls, which consisted of 6 fours and 4 sixes.
Handy contributions by skipper Dane Villas (23) and Dwaine Pretorius (28) saw the home side to 170/6.
Mungroo was the pick of the Rocks bowling attack, ending on figures of 3 for 29 in his four overs.
Rocks have ensured that the Cape Town Blitz will stay on top of the log with Newlands hosting the Mzansi Super League final on December 16.
Meanwhile, the Rocks have kept their hopes alive and now move ahead of the Tshwane Spartans in fourth place on 17 points with one game still outstanding.
