Durban - After having been left out of the Proteas squad for this month's T20I and ODI series against New Zealand, Ryan McLaren has put pen to paper with English County side Hampshire.
The English Cricket Board (ECB) website confirmed the news on Monday, saying that the all-rounder would arrive at the club in time for their County Championship clash against Durham on September 1.
McLaren will replace Australia's Jackson Bird as Hampshire's overseas professional for the remainder of the season.
"We are delighted to have an all-rounder of Ryan's quality taking over from Jackson for what will be an important end to the season," Hampshire Director of Cricket Giles White told the website.
"He is hugely experienced and will add quality and balance to the team."
