Cape Town - Axed Cricket SA (CSA) CEO Gerald Majola will appeal findings of a disciplinary hearing against him and will fight his case in the Labour Court, according to a report on the EWN website.
Majola was on Friday fired as CEO of CSA following an internal disciplinary hearing. The sanction was handed down by Advocate Karel Tip SC and Majola was dismissed with immediate effect.
Majola was found guilty on several charges, but primarily of the non-disclosure and receipt of bonuses from the 2009 Indian Premier League tournament and the ICC Champions League, and the misuse of his travel allowance. Earlier this week he also withdrew from the disciplinary process and chose to go to the Labour Court instead.
CSA lawyer Nicholas Preston says it's interesting that Majola now wants to appeal.
“He initially had the opportunity to appeal and clear his name, but chose to withdraw from the proceedings. The fact that he is now appealing is surprising."
