KP in hot water over dissent

2011-10-30 12:08

Kolkata - England's Kevin Pietersen has been reprimanded for showing dissent at the umpire after being given out lbw during his side's six-wicket win over India in Saturday's Twenty20 international in Kolkata.

Pietersen hit a match-winning 53 off just 39 balls at Eden Gardens to earn England their only victory on the limited overs tour of India, before he was given out lbw off Suresh Raina.

The flamboyant batsman pleaded guilty to the charge and therefore no full hearing was required, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement on Sunday.

"As an experienced cricketer, Kevin should know that when the umpire raises his finger, a player should leave the crease without showing his emotions no matter what he may think of the decision," match referee Roshan Mahanama was quoted as saying.

"In this case, Kevin displayed excessive and obvious disappointment at the decision which sent the wrong signals to all those watching the match at the ground and on television, and as such, merited some form of action."

This was a miscarriage of justice! He was given out LBW to a ball outside the leg stump and burst out laughing which in no way showed dissent but by charging him it shifts the spotlight from poor umpiring.

Make - take you head out your arse, There is nothing wrong with playing for another club/country. BUT you DON"T go to a new club/country and the slag of youre old one!!!! KP was not even good enough to play for the Natal B team when he left. He then has the arrogance to blame quata's and AA for his reason for leaving. There are plemnty of white players of his generation who have made it into the National team such as AB, Albie, Morne, Johan Botha, Dale etc. These players did not give up on their country and blame some one else when they could not hack it!! Fine good on him for improving his game in England still did not improve him as a person. Trott is the same. To take a Rugby example, no one cares/ or even remember that Dan Vickerman is a SA product because he went over to Aus and got on with things unlike Rathbone who also slagged of his country of birth no wonder Rathbone's career ende early through injury , Karma's a bitch

Namesake, I definately agree with you on the AA and quota thing. The first thing people do is blaming AA or quotas for all their problems, and not looking at their own abilities. Even worse, very good players and coaches get labelled as quota or AA players just because of their race; completely ignoring the talent, commitment and success of the players in a team, but only attribute the presence in a team as due to AA or quotas.

I think it is you that should get your head out of your behind. KP has never criticised SA! It is just another pub story that is devoid of any evidence. He rightly criticised CSA for applying racial preference at the expense of proven skill and ability. To say he was not good enough for the Natal B side is just plain ignorant.

@ Mark : What exactly were you criticising of my post? Recently I have heard people on this forum refer to high achieving Super 15 coaches and players of colour as quota and AA appointments. Do you then think that is correct?

@Mark - Well the Trott you knew from school changed alot because the Jonothan Trott i was in Varsity Res was one of the most conceited, arrogant, racist pr*cks you will ever meet!!!!! If you still knew him after school and liked him you are probably just like him.
