CSA applauds Jacques Kallis

Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa (CSA) joined Jacques Kallis's cricket fans around the world in applauding him on his first Test double century when he scored 201 not out in the Proteas’ mammoth 620/4 declared against India on the third day of the first Test at SuperSport Park in Centurion, on Saturday.

Gerald Majola, CSA CEO, said: “This is a great milestone in the career of Jacques Kallis, one of the best all-round cricketers the world has seen.

“Jacques has scored well over 11 000 Test runs and so it was a bit of fluke that he had not hit a double-hundred in 142 Tests. But, when he finally managed it, he did so in fine style indeed.

“His 201 not out came off only 279 balls against the top-ranked team in world cricket. It was also very special that he achieved this magnificent feat at home in South Africa and he thoroughly deserved the extended standing ovation he received at SuperSport Park and in the homes of millions of South Africans.

“CSA is confident that Jacques will use this as further impetus to take him to even greater heights wherever he plays for South Africa”.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
