Hyderabad - Half centuries from Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner set Sunrisers Hyderabad on their way to a seven-wicket IPL victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The supersport.com website reports that the openers shared in an exactly 100 stand with Dhawan hitting 50 off 39 deliveries and Australian Warner making 59 off 46 balls to help their side reach the 161 victory target with two balls to spare.

Earlier, a crafty half century from Virat Kohli (67 off 41) rescued the visitors after they ran into some early trouble, while AB de Villiers made a useful 29 off 17.

Purple cap bearer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with two for 27.

After winning the toss and batting first, Bangalore were in all sorts of trouble early on following a sluggish start and the wicket of Parthiv Patel in the first over, trapped leg before wicket by Kumar.

After reaching just 23 in the sixth over, dangerman Chris Gayle (14) saw an edge off the bottom of his bat loop gently to Parvez Rasool at short third man with Karn Sharma the bowler.

RCB's struggles continued as they limped to the halfway stage at 48 for two, before Yuvraj Singh launched into Parvez's 11th over with a six and four as the 50 was finally raised.

Nineteen came from the next set of six deliveries, the 12th over and most expensive sent down by Sharma, with Kohli clubbing two sixes and a boundary.

Yuvraj finally perished for 25 off 21 when he struck Parvez to Dale Steyn, who bowled four wicketless overs for 23 with the ball, at long-on.

Kohli went to his 50 in 34 balls by the end of the 15th over as the 100 was raised, and along with De Villiers, finally gave the innings some impetus.

The India star, however, fell to Irfan Pathan with the total on 141 - the batsman swinging through the line and picking out Steyn running around from long-off..

De Villiers fell in the penultimate over when he was cleaned up by a Kumar yorker with Bangalore creeping up to post a 161-target at the close.

Dhawan and Warner provided the Sunrisers with the flying start they needed as they surged o 50 in only 5.2 deliveries.

Despite the pace slowing between the fifth and 10th overs when only 27 were scored, they again picked up the tempo with Dhawan reaching 50 in 39 balls.

However, he was then run out by Yuvraj as Warner attempted a quick single off Muttiah Muralitharan to backward point - the total on 100 at that stage.

Naman Ojha (24 off 20) was in next and proved a perfect foil for Warner, who went to his half century in 41 balls.

Both fell in quick succession to Varun Aaron (2-36), but Darren Sammy (10 not out) and Aaron Finch (11 not out) took their side to a valuable win that kept their slim play-off hopes alive.
