Bangalore - Ravindra Jadeja's all-round effort highlighted the Chennai Super Kings' comfortable 74-run victory over Deccan Chargers in the Indian Premier League on Saturday.
Jadeja seemed to justify his $2 million tag at this year's auctions as he slammed 48 in Chennai's huge total of 193-6 and then bagged 5-16 as Deccan folded for 119 in 17.1 overs at Rajasakhera Reddy Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Jadeja propped up the innings in the company of South African Faf du Plessis (39) but the score was really propelled by West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo's brisk 43 off 18 balls with five sixes, three of them in an over from former Chennai pace bowler Manpreet Gony.
Jadeja then varied his trajectory well to outfox batsmen who had no option but to go for big hits in the face of a galloping asking rate. His victims included Parthiv Patel and Australia's big-hitting batsman Cameron White.
Chennai had lost to Mumbai Indians in their only earlier game while it was the first game of the season for Deccan.

Deccan Chargers 119 all out in 17.1 overs (Cameron White 23; Ravindra Jadeja 5-16, Shadab Jakati 2-14, Doug Bollinger 2-20).
