According to the Jacaranda FM website, although no injuries were reported, but it is suspected Gibbs, 40, was speeding when he collided with a Toyota.
Western Cape police spokesperson FC van Wyk says the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
"A case of drunk driving is under investigation. The 40-year-old suspect
was arrested at 23:30 on Sunday and will appear in the Cape Town
Magistrate's Court on November 25, 2015," Van Wyk confirmed.
According to the People's Post website, Camps Bay police station commander Captain Delicia Isaacs confirmed the incident.
Isaacs confirmed a case docket has been opened and the circumstances around the incident are still under investigation.
Gibbs played 90 Tests for the Proteas as well as 248 ODIs and 23 T20s, he last match coming in 2010.
