Fans hungry for T20 action

Cape Town - South African fans have shown their excitement for Proteas action, with less than a month to go until the first Twenty20 International at Newlands on October 13. Ticket sales for both Twenty20 Internationals against Australia have been encouraging as fans look forward to a bumper cricket summer.

Newlands will host the first match of the anticipated Series between South Africa and Australia, and at this stage, the match looks certain to be a sell-out.

“Ticket sales for the Twenty20 clash against Australia are going well and as of this morning we had already sold nearly 7 000 tickets,” commented Cape Cobras CEO, Andre Odendaal.

“This game is sure to be a sell out and fans are encouraged to secure their tickets early to avoid disappointment. Season ticket sales are also open until the end of September from the ticket office so fans must get their tickets as soon as possible to avoid queues during season.”

The Wanderers will host their first Twenty20 International match since November 2009 on October 16, and judging by the response from the public, the anticipation for cricket at the Bullring grows by the day.

Cassim Docrat, CEO of the Highveld Lions said: “We are more than satisfied with the response from the public on the opening of ticket sales so far. The public is looking forward to both the Australians and Sri Lankans visiting to South Africa. Indications are good for a sell-out on October 16.”

The series against Australia consists of two Twenty20s, three ODIs and two Test matches. Sri Lanka start their tour in the middle of December and play three Test matches over the traditional festive season followed by five ODIs in January.

Tickets for the T20 International matches are priced from R70-R220. Fans can purchase tickets for the One Day International Series from R50-R300. Tickets for the Test Series are priced from R20-R100 per day.
