Ex-Proteas roped in as pundits

Johannesburg - Former Proteas captains Graeme Smith and Shaun Pollock are just two of a host of cricket icons who will feature in SuperSport's commentary team during the ICC Cricket World Cup next year.

The broadcasters, who launch their 24-hour cricket channel on Sunday, have also contracted HD Ackerman, Mike Haysman, Mark Boucher, Michael Holding, Ian Bishop, Mpumelelo Mbangwa and Kepler Wessels.

Channel 202 will provide round-the-clock cricket coverage for the next five months, kicking off with the Ram Slam T20 triple-header taking place at the Wanderers on Sunday and culminating with the Cricket World Cup final on March 29.

Major tours and events lined up over the next few months include the five-match India-Sri Lanka ODI series and South Africa’s upcoming T20I and ODI tour of Australia.

The West Indies' end-of-year tour of South Africa, India’s tour of Australia and Sri Lanka's tour to New Zealand will all be broadcast leading up to the Cricket World Cup which starts on February 14.

The broadcaster has also acquired rights to the 18-part “Hooked on Cricket” series which features some of the greatest cricketers of the past two decades sharing their views on the game in general and the World Cup in particular.

Players featured include Sachin Tendulkar, Matthew Hayden, Shane Warne and South Africa’s quartet of Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn and Lance Klusener.
