Cape Town - Eoin Morgan feels in "a good enough space right here and now" to continue as England captain in the next two T20 World Cups and did not rule out the prospect of leading them in the defence of their 50-over crown in 2023.

Morgan's future has been the subject of some debate since overseeing England's World Cup triumph last year but he will start the cycle towards the next tournament in India in their one-day international series against South Africa.

While he is wary of making a firm commitment, he said ahead of the first ODI in Cape Town: "I've looked at the next two T20 World Cups and I feel in a good enough space right here and now to be able to say I'm hoping to be here for both of them.

"Things change, when you make decisions to stay on or continue, the majority of the time, that decision is taken out of your hands so for me it's a matter of focusing on this year's T20 World Cup, doing the best we can to put ourselves in a position to try to win it and then look beyond that as well."

As for whether there is more pressure on England and whether they have a target on their back since becoming 50-over world champions, Morgan added: "I don't think so.

"A year and a half out from last year's World Cup, we become number one in the world which was an acknowledgement of performances over a period of about two and a half years.

"It wasn't something that we tried to achieve, it was a result of consistent performances over that period of time."

Play on Tuesday gets underway at 13:00.
