England take series lead

Kolkata - England sealed the third Test against India by seven wickets early on the fifth day here on Sunday, taking a 2-1 lead with one match remaining, reports the supersport.com website.

Chasing a lowly target of 41, the visitors suffered a slight collapse as they lost Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott and Kevin Pietersen for just 8 runs.

But Ian Bell and Nick Compton saw them through to the victory, Bell smashing a run-a-ball 28.

Earlier, India were dismissed for 247 in the second over of the day.

James Anderson bowled Pragyan Ojha to wrap up India's effort, finishing with 3-38.

Ravichandran Ashwin was the not-out batsman with a well played 91.
