Cape Town - Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis along with the nine other Cricket World Cup captain's were at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday to meet the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth II was accompanied by her grandson Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, to welcome the 10 skippers to England at the 1844 Room at Buckingham Palace in London.
Nine out of the 10 World Cup teams are Commonwealth countries, with the exception of Afghanistan. The Queen still technically rules over Australia, New Zealand and some Caribbean nations.
The Proteas will take on the hosts and world No 1-ranked England in the opening match at The Oval on Thursday and will be hoping for a change of fortune at the showpiece event.
South Africa have lost four World Cup semi-finals and have never won the tournament.
They will be without speedster Dale Steyn for the opening match as he continues to recover from the shoulder injury.
