Cape Town - Another Cricket World Cup, another South African loss to arch rivals New Zealand.

That's FIVE World Cup matches played and, you guessed it, five Proteas defeats.

As it happened: South Africa v New Zealand - CWC 2019

The loss in 2015 perhaps still hurts the most, when South African-born man of the match Grant Elliott smashed veteran Proteas speedster Dale Steyn for a six with just two balls remaining to clinch a four-wicket semi-final win at Eden Park in Auckland.

Fast forward four years to Edgbaston in Birmingham, and it was the turn of Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson to dispatch Andile Phehlukwayo for a maximum to tie the scores in their group stage match.

Man of the match Williamson (106*) would go on to hit the following delivery for four to, once again, clinch a four-wicket margin of victory.

Slim solace, but some may find comfort in the fact that at least Williamson wasn't born in South Africa...

For the record, the other three New Zealand World Cup victories over the Proteas came in 2003 (nine wickets), 2007 (5 wickets) and 2011 (49 runs).
