Ahmedabad - Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar completed 18 000 runs in limited-overs internationals on Thursday during his innings against Australia in the World Cup quarterfinal.
Tendulkar, who has scored the most runs and centuries in both test and one-day cricket, pushed a delivery from pace bowler Brett Lee through covers to get to the mark as he moved from 44 to 45.
The 37-year-old Tendulkar had a reprieve on 47, his skied edge off Brett Lee falling inches in front of Jason Krezja at third man.
He pulled Shaun Tait for two in his next over to bring up his 94th ODI 50.
But then his innings came to and. He almost got another life on 53 when he edged Tait behind and started walking, but was called back so the umpire could check for no-ball, suspecting Tait may have bowled from too wide in the crease.
A lengthy review by the TV umpire showed Tait's delivery was legal and Tendulkar was out, making India 94-2 in the 19th over chasing 261 to beat the four-time champion Australians.
Tendulkar is a long way clear of the other batsmen in the ODI scoring list.
Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya is second with 13,428 runs, while Australian captain Ricky Ponting is third on 13 288. Ponting scored 104 in today's match.
