The theme for this year’s conference is: Creating a better TOMORROW for all in cricket.
The two-day event will include individual workshops for the various components that make up CSA’s activities across both the professional and amateur landscape. The high point will come when CSA CEO Gerald Majola takes delegates through the Presidential Plan for the next four years (2011-15).
Transformation will also feature significantly on the agenda and the Conference comes to a highlighted conclusion with the official Season Launch function on Friday evening.
“This is probably the most important week of the year for CSA,” commented Majola. “It is the one time when the entire family of CSA comes together to discuss issues, come up with solutions and plan a united way forward on all fronts.
“The Conference follows this week’s training camp for the Proteas’ Castle Lager squad as we get all our strategies together for another very busy season.
“We will be hosting touring sides from Australia and Sri Lanka while our under-19 squad will be going to the ICC under-19 World Cup early next year with high expectations of doing extremely well. The Proteas also have a crack at another major trophy at the ICC World Twenty20 in a year’s time in Sri Lanka.
“For all these events to have successful outcomes it is important that we have all our strategies in place from grassroots level upwards and that includes transformation which will be a major focus of attention at the Conference.
“To expand our game properly and make it a national sport of winners it is important that we take the game to every corner of the country and particularly to create opportunities for the less fortunate members of our various communities.
“That is the only way we can create a better TOMORROW for all in cricket,” Majola concluded.
