Broad: South Africans tightest

Sport24 staff

Cape Town - Kevin Pietersen tops a South African-heavy list of England cricketers who are the meanest with their money, according to Stuart Broad.

The England paceman, who has been in Potchefstroom attending a camp with fellow fast bowlers Chris Tremlett, James Anderson and Graham Onions - ahead of England’s trip to the United Arab Emirates to play Pakistan early in the New Year - has had plenty of spare time on his hands because of wet summer weather on the Highveld.

So he has been on Twitter regularly and gave his top three for financial “caution”.

He said in a tweet late on Tuesday: “Hard to judge the tightest man in the England team ... so many to choose from. Top 3 would be 1) KP 2) Trott 3) Strauss ... #borninsouthafrica”.

Clearly the amount of indoors time has been frustrating Broad, too, as he tweeted on Wednesday: “Is the weather as bad as this back home? No bowling here but could waterski.”

And a few days earlier: “Potchefstroom, South Africa. Seems a great place if you like falling to sleep listening to rain.”

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
